A popular actress and stunt performer Alicia Vela-Bailey is noted for working as a body double for several leading actresses in Hollywood films. Born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii, Vela-Bailey comes from a family or artists; her mother Cecelia was a ballerina and her father Carlos was one of the top magicians from El Salvador. Being artists themselves, Vela-Baileys parents encouraged her to practice dance and gymnastics and after enrolling in a gymnastic schools, the actress quickly rose through the ranks and became a competitive level 9 gymnast by the time she was 13-years-old. She eventually shifted her focus to dance and became a member of the Marcelo Paclebs famous 24-VII Danceforce.
With a strong background in gymnastics, at the age of 21, Vela-Bailey auditioned to be the double for Milla Jovovich in the film Ultraviolet (2006). Her brilliant performance in the movie won her two nominations at the Taurus World Stunt Award in 2007. She got her major breakthrough in the film industry when she was called by James Cameroon to audition for his Oscar winning film Avatar (2009). The actress spent nearly three years undergoing training as Zoe Saldanas stunt double as well as many other characters from the Navi clan; she also played a role herself as the Ikran Clan Leader. Few of her most notable film credits as an actress include Crew Film: The Volume (2010), Hostel: Part III (2011), and The Purge (2013). Her 2017 release includes Annabelle: Creation, an American supernatural horror film directed by David F. Sandberg.
