Anne Jacqueline Hathaway, is an American TV and film actress and singer. She has portrayed popular characters in comedy films like The Princess Diaries and Bride Wars, for which she won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actress Comedy. For her performances in movies like Nicholas Nickleby, Ella Enchanted, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, and Hoodwinked, this versatile actress got crowned as the role model for children. Some of her most memorable performances have come in movies like Brokeback Mountain, The Devil Wears Prada, Love & Other Drugs, and Les Miserables.
Apart from being an exceptional actress, Anne has even lent her voice to few songs in movies. She has even been a host at the Academy Awards in 2011.
EARLY LIFE
Hailing from the popular city of New York (Brooklyn region), Anne Hathaway was born on November 12, 1982. Anne drew inspiration to make a career in acting from her mother, Kathleen Ann Kate McCauley Hathaway, a former actress. Her father, Gerald Thomas Hathaway, was a lawyer. She was the second child of her parents, born after her elder brother, Michael, and before her younger brother, Thomas.
She did her schooling from Brooklyn Heights Montessori School and Wyoming Elementary School, located in Millburn. Anne also attended Millburn High School for ninth to twelfth grades, and portrayed the role of Winnifred in the school play Once Upon a Mattress that won her a Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award for Best Performance by a High School Actress. She even underwent training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
PERSONAL LIFE
This beautiful actress had a long romantic relationship with Italian real estate developer Raffaello Follieri, from 2004. She broke up with him in 2008, and later that year Anne started dating actor and producer Adam Shulman. The two got married in 2012, and have a son named Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, who was born in 2016.
MOVIE CAREER
In 1999, Anne Hathaway had her first major appearance on-screen in the TV series Get Real. However, the show didnt last more than one season. A couple of years later, she made her feature film debut with the commercially successful Disney comedy The Princess Diaries (2001), for which she won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actress Comedy.
The talented actress voiced the audiobook release of The Princess Diaries along with its first three books. She even delivered a solid performance in her stage debut with Carnival! (2002) in New York. She next appeared in movies like Nicholas Nickleby (2002) and Ella Enchanted (in 2004), for which she even sang few songs (two in the movie and three on the movie soundtrack album). In 2004, Hathaway was seen in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, which was a sequel to her debut film.
In 2005, the actress starred in the movie Havoc, which marked her first 'adult' role as most of her previous movies were children-centric. In the movie, she even appeared nude in a few scenes.
In 2008, Hathaway played a part in the action-comedy film Get Smart that was based on the TV series with the same name. The movie raked good numbers at the Box Office. She next took up the challenging role of a recovering drug addict in the 2008 film Rachel Getting Married, and received the Critics Choice Movie Award for Best Actress. She was also nominated for the Golden Globe and Academy Awards for her role. Hathaway also won her second Teen Choice award for her acting in the 2009 film Bride Wars.
2010 was a great year for Hathaway, as she delivered several hits like Valentines Day, Alice in Wonderland, and Love & Other Drugs she a won Satellite Award for Best Actress for her role in Love & Other Drugs. She kept taking up voice-over projects like the animated movie Rio (2011), where she voiced the character Jewel. Annes audiobook recording The Wonderful Wizard of Oz got released on Audible.com in 2012, and her stellar performance even won her a nomination for the 2013 Audie Award for Best Solo Narration Female.
Hathaway also won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress with her portrayal of the catwoman character Selina Kyle in the Christopher Nolans final instalment of the Batman trilogy titled The Dark Knight Rises (2012) which was a blockbuster hit worldwide.
The actress delivered one of the most memorable performances of her career as Fantine in the 2012 musical drama film Les Miserables, for which she won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Oscars, Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and Golden Globe. She even lent her voice to the song I Dreamed a Dream that appeared in this film.
In 2014, Anne took over the voice-artist role of Jewel in the animation movie Rio 2. During the same year, she appeared in the science-fiction movie Interstellar. She next starred alongside Robert De Niro in the 2015 comedy movie The Intern. The family-role savvy actress also was seen in Alice in Wonderland sequel titled Alice Through the Looking Glass.
