A veteran actress, Ayirangani Serasinhe is noted for her work in Sinhalese movies. The aunt of one of the most influential Sri Lankan politician, Ranil Wickramasinghe, who also served as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Serasinhe made her debut on the silver screen with Rekava in 1950. In her illustrious career spanning more than six decades, the veteran has starred in more than 30 films and nearly 10 TV series and along the way won several awards including Kala Keerthi Sri Lankan Government, and the Sri Lankan of the Year Entertainment Distinguished Achievement Ada Derana.
Some of her notable film credits include Sandesaya (1960), The Yellow Dress (1967), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), Awaragira (1990), Mansion by the Lake (2002), Water (2005), Nisala Gira (2007), Heart FM (2008), and Paha Samath (2017), a Sinhalese childrens film directed by Jayaprakash Sivagurunadan. Apart from films, Serasinhe has also worked in various TV series including Yashorawaya (1980), Doo Daruwo (1990-95), Ammai Thaththai (1997), Muthu Kirilli (2008-09), Amanda (2010-11).
