EARLY LIFE:
Ben Kingsley, born in Yorkshire, England, is an English actor. Born as Krishna Bhanji and of half Indian descent, he changed his name to Ben Kingsley after becoming a successful stage actor. He studied at the University of Salford and Pendleton College before graduating from the Royal Shakespeare Company. He made his debut in Broadway and performed in several theatre productions such as Volpone and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
Kingsley has been a part of several television series such as Orlando, Coronation Street and The Love School. He made his film debut with Fear Is the Key (1972). Ben's performance in the film, Gandhi (1982), earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor. Later, he appeared in several successful television series such as Oxbridge Blues, Silas Marner and Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story. His most famous films include Schindler's List (1993), The Tale of Sweeney Todd (1997) and Anne Frank: The Whole Story (2001). Some of his other films are Twelfth Night (1996), The Confession (1999), Sexy Beast (2000) A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), You Kill Me (2007), Hugo (2011), The Dictator (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013), Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) and Exodus: Gods, Kings (2014), Crossmalgen (2015), Self/less (2015) and The Walk (2015). He has lent his voice to the character Bagheera, in the 2016 movie The Jungle Book.
