Best remembered for her portrayal of Jenny Hanley in the 1979 romantic comedy 10, Bo Derek is an American actress and film producer. Hailing from California, Bo Derek was born as Mary Cathleen Collins to Paul Collins and Norma White, who was Swedish-American actress and singer's make-up artist and hairdresser. At the age of 16, she met the married John Derek, who was 30 years her senior and fell in love with him. The two started dating and soon Derek divorced his then-wife, actress Linda Evans.

The couple moved to Germany, where Derek started to make movies featuring Collins, who then took on the name Bo Derek. They got married as soon as Bo Derek turned 19. Some of the movies that her husband and she worked on were Tarzan, the Ape Man (1981), Bolero (1984), and Ghosts Can't Do It (1989), all of which were received negatively. She received widespread recognition for her work in 10, where the dream sequence, which featured her in a flesh-coloured swimsuit, instantly made her a mainstream sex symbol and she also received a Golden Globe nomination for Best New Star.

Among her other movie credits are Woman of Desire, Tommy Boy, Sunstorm, Frozen with Fear, The Master of Disguise, and Malibu's Most Wanted. Her husband passed away in 1998, four years after which she became involved with actor John Corbett and has been living with him since then. Occasionally appearing in movies, television shows, and documentaries, Bo Derek's recent work includes the movies Highland Park and 5 Weddings.
