Stunt coordinator and filmmaker Chad Stahelski started out in American cinema by choreographing fight sequences for movies like The Crow (1994), Alien: Resurrection (1997) and 8MM (1999). After almost two decades in the industry as a stunt director, Stahelski ventured into filmmaking by serving as a second unit director in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), The Hunger Games (2012) and The Expendables 2 (2012).
In 2014, he made his directorial debut with the neo-noir action thriller John Wick starring Keanu Reeves, which turned out to be a critical and commercial success. After serving as a second unit director in the MCU superhero film Captain America: Civil War (2016), Stahelski returned to the director's chair by helming John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), which outdid its predecessor both in terms of critical reception and commercial success. In 2019, Stahelski directed the third film in the franchise, titled John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019).
