BIOGRAPHY

Christine Baranski is an American film, television and stage actress. In a career spanning close to four decades, she has appeared in over 35 films, numerous television shows and stage productions, and has won two Tony Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award. Baranski started out on stage, garnering critical acclaim early on in her career through Broadway productions like The Real Thing and Rumors. Her performances in these plays won Baranski the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play, in 1984 and 1989. Though the actress' feature film debut came in the 1982 sex comedy Soup for One, it was her role in the CBS sitcom Cybill (1995-1998) that marked a turning point in Baranski's career. Her portrayal of Maryanne Thorpe in the series earned Baranski a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and a Golden Globe nomination. Notable feature film credits include Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), Chicago (2002), Mamma Mia! (2008), Into the Woods (2014) and the 2017 comedy A Bad Moms Christmas. Other significant television credits include Law & Order, The Big Bang Theory and The Good Wife. She is also a seasoned voiced actor, and has lent her voice for films like Scooby Doo! in Where's My Mummy? (2005) and Trolls (2016), and television shows like BoJack Horseman and American Dad.
