First ever Latin composer to be invited to join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Germaine Franco composes music and songs that reflect her extensive training as an orchestral musician. Franco works on studio blockbusters and independent features. She is a Sundance Music Sound Design Fellow and a Board Member of the Alliance for Women Film Composers. Germaine Franco is the first female composer to be hired by DreamWorks Animation. She has performed as a percussionist with several major international orchestras and artist including the Belgian Radio Orchestra and the Spoleto Festival.
Germaine Franco is known for her music in the animated movies like Coco, Happy Feet, Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3, How to Train your Dragon series, Rio and Rio 2, Ice Age: Continental Drift. This multi-instrumental expert has provided her art in movies including P.S I Love You, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, X-Men: The Last Stand and Tag in 2018.
Franco's love for music has given her fame and acclaim. She won 'Outstanding Achievement for Music in an Animated Feature Production' for Coco in 2017. She was recognized by ASCAP with 'Shirley Walker Award', which honors those whose achievements have contributed to the diversity of film and television music.
