Janelle Monae is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She is mainly known for her work in the R&B and Soul genre, and her discography consists of nine singles, three EPs and three studio albums. Following her film debut with a voice role in Rio 2 (2014), Monae has gone on to appear in supporting roles in critically acclaimed movies like Moonlight (2017) and Hidden Figures (2017). Notable television credits include Stargate Universe, Dance with the Stars and Saturday Night Live. Her 2018 release includes Welcome to Marwen, directed by Robert Zemeckis. Her 2019 release includes Uglydolls.
