Passionate about pursuing a career in comedy, Mulaney moved to New York in 2004 and got a break as an assistant at Comedy Central. Later, he worked on I Love the '30s, a parody of the I Love the '80s. Mulaney rose to fame with Saturday Night Live, where he served as the writer of the show. He was also the writer for Maya & Marty (2015-2016), Documentary Now! (2015-). He has also acted on numerous television shows, his notable performance being Crashing, Portlandia and Difficult People. His other projects include Netflix series Big Mouth (2018) and animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).
