John Towner Williams is an exceptional music composer, conductor and pianist known for composing some of the most popular and recognizable film scores in cinematic history. His work includes music for films like the Star Wars series, Seven Years in Tibet (1997), the Harry Potter series (2001-2011), Superman Returns (2006), Superman: Requiem (2011), Lincoln (2012) and The Book Thief (2013), among several others. He has worked with director Steven Spielberg and has been closely associated with almost all of his projects, including Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Jurassic Park (1993), Schindler's List (1993), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Catch Me If You Can (2002), Munich (2005) and Bridge of Spies (2015), among others. John served as the Boston Pops Orchestra's principal conductor between 1980 and 1993. He has won five Academy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards and 22 Grammy Awards. He is the second most nominated individual after Walt Disney. He last composed for the film Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). His next film is Spielberg's The BFG, which is set to release in July, 2016.
