Julia Fiona Roberts, popularly known as Julia Roberts, is an Academy Award winning American actress and film producer. She first rose to prominence with the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman, which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role that year. Since her feature film debut in 1987, Roberts has appeared in close to 50 films, and has received eight Golden Globe nominations (winning three) and four Academy Award nominations (winning one). She was one among the most sought-after and highest paid actresses in Hollywood in the 1990s, and is often considered among the most popular female stars in the history of American cinema.
