An award-winning film and television actor, singer and presenter, Kamal Addaraarachchi is famous in the Sri Lankan film industry since the late 1970s. Making his debut in 1981 with Sagarayak Meda, directed by the King of Sri Lankan cinema history, Gamini Fonseka. After starring in his debut movie, Kamal moved on to be immensely popular among the audience and appeared in over 40 films, 20 television dramas and 6 stage plays. His stellar career also consists of a singing debut which he made in the 1993 film, Saptha Kanya.

The multi-talented actor also won a Sarasaviya Best Actor Award for his role in Agnidahaya in 2002. Prior to this, he was primarily a theatre artist where he made his debut early on in his career in 1978 with the play, Ane Ablick. His other notable credits include Mille Soya (2004), Guerilla Marketing (2005), Sewwandi (2006), Maatha (2012), and Thanha Rathi Ranga (2014), among others, before he was cast in Gharasarapa (2018).
