A British actress, Kristin Scott Thomas is a five-time BAFTA Award nominee and the five-time nominee of Olivier Award is best known for her role in the 1994 feature film, Four Weddings and a Funeral. Her brilliant performance in the film won her the maiden BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Born in Redruth, Cornwall, Thomas was raised as a Roman Catholic and she started her acting career as a theater artist. He initially appeared mostly in French plays before eventually establishing herself as one of the most prominent English theater personalities.

After working in the theater for a brief period, Thomas moved to work the mainstream commercial films and TV industry. After her maiden appearance on the small screen in the TV miniseries Mistral's Daughter in 1984, she made her debut on the silver screen with Under the Cherry Moon (1986). However, the actress had a very forgettable start to her career as her maiden film won her two Golden Raspberry Award nominations. The actress struggled for a couple of years until she got wide recognition for her role in A Handful of Dust (1988), which won her the Evening Standard British Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer.

Whilst Thomas was working in feature films, she also did a lot of short films and TV miniseries. Her biggest breakthrough came in 1994 when director Mike Newell cast her in Four Weddings and a Funeral. With her brilliant performance in the movie, Thomas walked away with a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Her other notable film credits include The English Patient (1996), Gosford Park (2001), Nowhere Boy (2010), and Darkest Hour (2018), a British war drama directed by Joe Wright.
