Rakshit Shetty is an Indian actor and filmmaker, who predominantly works in Kannada cinema, made his acting debut with the 2010 action film Nam Areal Ondina, and then went on to feature in several movies like Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Vaastu Prakaara, and Ricky. He then played a career-oriented man in the drama Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu, following which he was seen in the role of a Mechanical Engineering student in director Rishab Shetty's romantic comedy Kirik Party. He won the Critics Award for Best Actor - South at Filmfare Awards South and IIFA Utsavam Award for Performance In A Leading Role - Male for Kirik Party. He ventured into direction with the 2014 anthology crime drama Ulidavaru Kandanthe, in which he played the lead role and was also the writer of the film. Ulidavaru Kandanthe won him the Filmfare Award South for Best Director and Karnataka State Film Award for Director's First Time Best Film. He is also a producer associated with the films Kirik Party, Humble Politician Nograj and Bheema Sena Nala Maharaja. His 2017 venture as a story and screenplay writer includes the Tamil neo noir action crime Richie, directed by Gautham Ramachandran, starring Nivin Pauly, Natarajan Subramaniam, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli and Shraddha Srinath. It is a remake of his 2014 Kannada film Ulidavaru Kandanthe.
