S. Janaki

Hailed as 'The Nightingale of South India', legendary singer S. Janaki has recorded several thousand songs in a showbiz journey spanning over six decades. She is one of the most celebrated playback singers in the country with numerous evergreen classics (from films) across all major Indian languages to her credit, and has carved a niche for herself in the music world. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the iconic musician has bagged countless prestigious honours besides four National Film Awards and over thirty State Film Awards in the course of her illustrious career.

'Shiva Shiva Ennada Naalige Yeke' from the Kannada movie Hemavathi (1977), 'Mizhiyoram' from the Malayalam movie Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980), 'Thumbi Va Thumbakkudathin' from Olangal (1982), 'Baala Kanakamaya' from the Telugu film Sagara Sangamam (1983) are a few among the many memorable songs crooned by this gifted singer over the years. In 2017, Janaki drew curtains on her singing career after six decades with a concert held in Mysore.
