EARLY LIFE:

Daughter of the legendary actor Anil Kapoor and ex-model Sunita Kapoor, Sonam was born and brought up in Mumbai along with her younger siblings Rhea and Harshvardhan. Sonam was nicknamed Giraffe by her father, Anil Kapoor. After completing school in Mumbai, Sonam moved to Singapore where she studied Art and Theater for two years. She then studied Political Science and Economics at the University of East London. Apart from English and Hindi, Sonam speaks Punjabi, Marathi and Urdu. Sonam decided to assist Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of Black (2005) and she was eventually cast in his magnum opus, Saawariya (2007).

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS::

Known for her style and the unconventional touch she brings to her roles, Sonam Kapoor has enjoyed the success of commercial films like Delhi-6 (2009), I Hate Luv Storys (2010) and Raanjhanaa (2013). She has also been the cover girl for various national and international magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Femina and Harper's Bazaar. Critics have also praised her performances in movies like Mausam (2011) and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). Sonam Kapoor was also seen in Bewakoofiyaan (2014), Khoobsurat (2014), Dolly Ki Doli (2015). Her much awaited film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in 2015. Her upcoming movie Neerja, set to release in February 2016, is based on the real life story of Neerja Bhanot, a flight attendant that sacrificed her life trying to save the others.
