BIOGRAPHY

Shaku Bai Rao Gaikwad, better known by her stage name, Soundarya Rajinikanth is a popular director, producer, and graphics designer who is known for her works in the Tamil film industry. The daughter of the Tamil superstar, Rajinikanth, Soundarya is the founder and owner of the Ocher Picture Productions, a film production company. Soundarya started her career in the film industry as a graphics designer and she made her debut as a sketch artist with Padayappa (1999). She subsequently worked in the graphics department for Baba (2001), Sandakozhi (2005), and Chennai 600028 (2007) before making her debut as a director with Kochadaiiyaan (2014). Her 2017 directorial venture includes Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, which is the sequel to the 2014 film of the same name.

After making a statement in the media while filming for Vaamanan, Aval Peyar Thamizharasi, Adhe Neram Adhe Idam and Arjunan Kadhali in 2009 that only Vaamanan would do well and the rest would become financial failures, Jai faced ban from the producers council. They asked him to complete his ongoing projects before picking up any new film. Only after Soundarya Rajnikanth, the producer of Goa, intervened was he bailed out of the ban.
