A graduate of the University of Colombo, Sujeewa Gunarathne is a Sri Lankan film personality. In 2009, he worked as an art director for the movie Under the Sun and Moon. In 2017, he directed the epic fantasy movie Kaala starring Mahendra Perera and Madani Malwaththa in pivotal roles.
