Recipient of the Kala Keerthi, the highest national honor for arts, culture and drama in Sri Lanka, Suminda Sirisena is a Sri Lankan actor who has worked in the industry for over six decades. The veteran actor was a student of the first batch of the theater school Ranga Shilpa Shalika which was founded by Dhamma Jagoda. In 1985, Sirisena made his television debut with the drama Sihina Nimnaya, however, he shot to fame for his role in Kumarihami. The actor has appeared in several critically acclaimed movies such as Saptha Kanya (1993), Samanala Thatu (2005), Uppalawanna (2007), Ira Handa Yata (2010), Gamani (2011), and Bomba Saha Rosa (2013). In 2014, Sirisena was awarded the Deshanethru and the Kala Bhushana State Award for his contribution to performing arts.
