Kavitha Ranjini, popularly known by her stage name Urvashi, is a National Award winning Indian film actress, writer and producer who has worked closely with the South Indian film industry, especially Malayalam.


She made her acting debut with K. Bhagyarajs Munthanai Mudichu (1983), a Tamil movie. Urvashis acting career saw her act in movies like Hello Madras Girl (1983), Shravana Banthu (1984), Rustum (1984), Nirakkoottu (1985), New Delhi (1987), Premaloka (1987), Irupatham Noottandu (1987), Oru CBI Diary Kurippu (1988), Mattoral (1988), Thanthram (1988), Antima Theerpu (1988), Mrigaya (1989), Chakkikotha Chankaran (1989), Michael Madana Kamarajan (1990), Thalayanamanthram (1990), Lal Salam (1990), Bharatham (1991), Yodha (1992), Malootty (1992), Midhunam (1993), Kudumba Visesham (1994), Spadikam (1995), Panchatanthiram (2002), Achuvinte Amma (2005), Rama Shama Bhama (2005), Manjadikuru (2008), Siva Manasula Sakthi (2009), Peraanmai (2009), Uttama Villain (2015) and Shivalinga (2016). She has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress five times and a National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of a mother in Achuvinte Amma (2005). She also wrote the story for Pidakkozhi Koovunna Noottandu (1994). In 2017 Urvashi stars alongside Raghava Lawrence and Vanilla Ritika Singh in P. Vasus Shivalinga. The movie is a remake of Vasus 2016 Kannada film of the same name and Urvashi reprises her role from the original movie.
