2007 by professionals from education and arts, the AFAL trust aims at integrating the arts in learning

Artreach India’s mission is to reach children, young people and women from marginalised communities

Antarang Foundation is a 4 year old organisation that bridges the gap between education and
employability for young adults from low income communities.
Antarang provides career guidance, training in core employability skills and connect young adults to
career opportunities of their choice. Graduates are also connected to mentors from Corporate India
who guide them in the initial stages of their careers. Antarang also runs a robust alumni engagement
program that provides continuing career development opportunities to the students.
Astha is a non-profit organization working towards empowering differently-abled people primarily
through Para Sports, projects also include areas of professional education and voting.
Apne Aap Women’s Collective (AAWC) was founded in 1998 to address the plight of women trafficked into brothel-based prostitution and their children with centers in Falkland Road and subsequently in Kamathipura. While serving the women in sex trade, AAWC realized that the daughters of the Umeed women were at a great risk of being coerced into prostitution due to their extensive exposure to the red light district. Also, the toddlers of the women were often found idling on the streets while their mothers were soliciting with clients. As a result, AAWC started 3 programs: Umeed (hope) for women in brothel-based prostitution, Udaan (flight) for the daughters of the women and Umang (joy) for the toddlers. The services provided to the 3 programs are finance, health, education, empowerment, recreation and shelter home placement services.
The Akanksha Foundation is a non-profit organisation with a mission to provide children from low-income communities with a high-quality education, enabling them to maximize their potential and transform their lives. Akanksha works in the field of education, initiating school reform through The School Project, and providing a supplemental education through the Akanksha centers.
Access Life Assistance Foundation provides a loving and temporary home for the parent or care taker and the child undergoing the treatment for cancer. Their mission is to offer a home-like environment for these families and also try to improve the quality of life of these children by providing practical support services, educational resources and recreational programs.
Angel Xpress Foundation is a Mumbai-based NGO working to transform the lives of underprivileged children through regular access to educated adults. They provide a platform for adults to fill the education needs of children who can grow up to make responsible choices. They currently operate out of three centres in parks and promenades across Mumbai city through tutoring sessions in English and Math. Children from the slums and migrant colonies come to the centers to connect with their educated, neighbours who care enough to teach, guide and respect them as individuals.
Acorn Foundation is a registered trust in Mumbai and has initiated the Dharavi Project a NGO working among the wastecollectors/Ragpickers in the Dharavi area of Mumbai. The project was founded by Vinod Shetty and other likeminded volunteers and is educating more then 150 kids in the Dharavi area in its informal schools. It is a forum for education of underprivileged kids in the slums of Mumbai, founded on the belief that children are the most powerful messengers of change. Acorn has been spearheading efforts to inculcate civic and environmental consciousness through schools and offices..
Bangalore Oniyavara Seva Coota, commonly known as BOSCO is a Voluntary Organization (NGO) which rescues and rehabilitates street children in the city of Bangalore, through its 24/7 street presence. They render services to the deprived, marginalized and vulnerable children – such as street children, child laborers, runaway and trafficked children, abandoned and orphaned children, victims of all kinds of abuses, rag pickers, child beggars etc. The services include rescue, counseling, home reintegration, tracing missing children, health care, education (formal and In-formal education), vocational skill training, job placement, room placement, advocacy, personality enhancement, child labour eradication, HIV/AIDS awareness and National Research and Documentation

women and girls unacceptable. Their cutting-edge multimedia campaigns, community mobilization,
agenda-setting, and leadership training equip men and women worldwide to challenge the status
quo and take bold action for the dignity, equality, and justice of all. Breakthrough seeks to make
discrimination and violence against women and girls unacceptable everywhere and in all its forms,
including domestic violence, sexual harassment in public spaces, early marriage, and gender-biased
sex selection. They address these issues through the lens of gender, sexuality and human rights.
With the belief that “Care” actually “Works”, Careworks Foundation (CWF) was formed in 2014 to
act as a catalyst of change and create better lives. Driven by the belief that education and health are
the two major pillars to accelerate growth in a society, CWF identified several smaller elements

CanKids...KidsCan is a registered, grass root level Non-Profit organization dedicated to bringing a
Change for Childhood Cancer in India. CanKids works in over 85 cancer hospitals in India, runs 4

and impart literacy skills among the socially and economically disadvantaged children in urban slum
communities of Mumbai and Pune. DSS has many more developmental programs for
underprivileged children’s holistic development.
The Father Agnel Ashram is a charitable institution in India. Founded under the inspiration and guidance of the Father Conceicao Rodrigues and a dedicated few, the movement started with an orphanage and a trade school in carpentry. Under the guidance of Agnel Ashram Fathers, it caters to full fledged schools, industrial training centres, polytechnics, engineering colleges at the bachelor and post graduate levels and a School of Management and has spread its wings with large technical complexes at Bandra in Mumbai, Verna in Goa, New Delhi, Noida, Ambernath, Vashi in Navi Mumbai and in Pune.
El Shaddai as an organization exists to open Homes, Shelters & Community Centres for the street,
slum, underprivileged and needy children providing them with the basic necessities of life, so as to
develop their personalities leading to a brighter future.
Happy Feet Home (HFH) is children's Palliative Care center. Their aim is to provide free of cost
emotional, psycho-social, educational/vocational and nutritional support to children with life
threatening and life limiting illnesses, who are either infected with HIV positive or Thalassemia
major. They strive to provide better quality of life and equal opportunities to these children.
Hi5 Youth Foundation runs a multi-year, multi-level basketball coaching program for children from
disadvantaged communities called “Hope thru Hoops” – providing children an alternate pathway to
succeeding in life. They are one of the largest year-round grassroot basketball development program
run by a single NGO in India.
Foundation for Initiatives in Development and Education for All (IDEA) is an NGO with initiatives
focused on the development of underprivileged children, youth and women. IDEA, conceptualized
by a team of qualified and experienced social scientists and social workers, deal with the problems in
education and developmental issues of the marginalized people, realizing the need for adopting a
holistic approach to minimize school dropout.
IDEA started its work in a slum in 2002. Currently IDEA has its presence in 25 slums and 20 villages in
Pune and Raigad districts in Maharashtra state in India reaching out to 12000 children, 3500 youth
and 3500 women.
The Jungle Crows Foundation was set up in the year 2004 as an organization working with a sport-for-development approach with children and youth to ensure they grow up with the best of opportunities. We engage with young people through our passion for sport and then support our participants by working with them in their communities and supporting them as they grow-up. Rugby has been our principal sport and over the years, there have been many a success stories of youth being transformed from a life of little future to national and international players.
Katradi uses a combination of art and sport to create empathy based social transformation. They

Passionate learning is the ethos and soul of Manpasand Life. At Manpasand Life, they facilitate
underprivileged adults by providing opportunities and a platform to bring about personal growth
and also help create possibility in terms of financial stability.
Manzil Mystics is a Delhi based choir band institute, as well as Non-profit that strives towards
increasing the appreciation and recognition of music. Through music, they intend to teach children
how to express their hopes, feelings, ideas, happiness, anger, and frustration. They aim to reach
every classroom and enable life skills & positively impact educational outcomes of disadvantaged
children.
Nalandaway Foundation uses visual and performing Arts to help children from disadvantaged
communities in India. Their endeavour is to improve learning abilities, reinforce positive behaviour
and help children soar high by enabling them to be creative and express through various Art forms
such as fine arts, craft, music, dance, drama and media.
नर फाउंडेशन is Mumbai based NGO focused mainly with providing extraordinary Education to street
and slum kids for FREE! Apart from Education they have successfully worked with many more issues
of food, health and hygiene, providing clothes and toys to kids, wall painting, creating social
awareness along with educational trips and tour for these kids.
Music Basti connects at-risk children with musicians, aiming to nurture confidence through a
creative and joyful music-learning experience. Set up in 2008, the project has worked with over 1000
at-risk children directly, and over 300 musicians and artists through community led projects in NCR,
India.
Initiated 25 years ago, Om Creations is a work space where 56 mentally challenged women trained
in 'Arts and Crafts' and 'Hospitality and Catering', create lifestyle products, pieces of art and
sculpture, and delicious fare.
As they are not able to be absorbed in mainstream employment, Om Creations is a place of work for
them, where they are included in every facet of life, can live a life of dignity and self-worth, and at
the same time earn a livelihood and support their families.
One All transforms youth through an empowered worldview by using Ultimate Frisbee - a mixed
gender sport. The sport-based life-skill curriculum enables youth to develop their identity by
breaking stereotypes and overcoming gender biases. They engage with government schools, fishing
communities in Chennai; and Adivasi (tribal) community in Gudalur, Nilgiris.
Project Potential is a movement for community driven, conscious social change in rural India,
starting with Bihar. Project Potential empowers local changemakers and groups to achieve their
goals in education, health, agriculture, entrepreneurship, art, and theatre.
Protsahan works with young adolescent girls who are either survivors or are at-risk of sexual abuse
using a creative arts based programs. Their after-school programs are designed to use the creative
power of Photography, Filmmaking and Cinema, Design, Performing Arts, and Meditations to heal
and transform broken childhoods.
St. Jude India Child Care Centres, with its 227 units in 18 Centres in 5 cities across India, provides free of cost holistic care to children, who are brought to large cities for the treatment of the child’s cancer, by parents coming from underprivileged backgrounds. The St. Judes package consists of nutritious food, infection-free shelter for the child and its parents, and educational, recreational and counselling services throughout the duration of the child’s treatment
Rapid Response is an award winning organisation, providing disaster response and preparedness
services across India. As a relief agency, Rapid Response helps people to survive and rebuild their
lives through food, medical, education, shelter and livelihood programs
Established in 2007, RESQ Charitable Trust is a registered not-for-profit organisation that works in
Pune towards the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and sick animals, conducting awareness and
education programs, which focus on impacting society with respect to reducing human-animal
conflict and conservation of the environment. The organisation operates a RESQ Centre and
Rehabilitation Hospital and rescues between 450-500 animals every month, including dogs, cats,
horses, cows, buffaloes, donkeys and birds.
The Robin Hood Army is a volunteer based organization that works to get surplus food from
restaurants across to the less fortunate people.
Their local chapters are run by friends and colleagues who hope to create a difference in their own
small way. The volunteers are largely students and young working professionals. The lesser
fortunate sections they help include homeless families, night shelters, orphanages, and patients
from public hospitals.
Reality Gives is a community-centred education non-profit, founded in Dharavi. They are also active
in Sanjay Colony, a slum community in New Delhi. They envision a world where underprivileged
communities have equitable access to opportunities and resources, and believe education is the
most powerful tool people can use to break the cycle of poverty.
Shraddha Charitable Trust is a workshop devoted to help rehabilitate the autistic and mentally challenged young adults. Autism is a disorder of the brain that causes lifelong development disability affecting their communication & social abilities thus these challenged people lead their whole life dependent on others. But at Shraddha, we believe, that with the help of special educators and dedicated volunteers their potential can be explored and thus begins their journey towards empowerment. They are trained to master simple skills such as pasting, folding, plastering, moulding, pressing etc. The daily activities boost their confidence and give them the thrill of creating. Snehadeep Trust for the blind and disabled was established by 3 visually impaired graduates in

Salaam Bombay Foundation works to keep children in school by empowering them to make the right
choices about their health, education and livelihood thereby ensuring that they can thrive with a
bright future. They engage ‘at risk’ children through in-school leadership programmes and after-
school sports, arts, media and vocational training academies.
Sanskar Balmandir is a well-established and futuristic educational institution that inculcates the
overall development of children, especially those from the weaker sections of society. Besides
imparting quality education, the school lays equal emphasis on extra-curricular activities, educational field
trips, intra-school as well as inter-school contests and picnics.
Sinhayana Foundation is an NGO focused on educating underprivileged children in art forms. They
are well known for their program called Dance out of Poverty. Under this program, they provide free
of cost dance training to talented underprivileged children and keep providing them with various
platforms to showcase their talent.
Slum Soccer exists to foster sustainable development within otherwise marginalised populations of
India. They aim to provide long term solutions to combat rife homelessness and improve living
standards within underprivileged areas. Their approaches are centred on building self-sufficient

The South United Sports Foundation (SUSF) conducts community programmes designed to cater to
underprivileged children by engaging them through sport. The foundation strives to develop young
footballing talent and provide employment opportunities in the sports industry.
The Tata Group set up the Tata Medical Center, registered not-for- profit cancer specialty hospital in
Kolkata on 16 th May 2011 which stands as a beacon of hope for cancer patients in Eastern India.
Till date the hospital has treated more than 75,000 patients and performed over 21,000 surgeries.
The/Nudge Foundation is a collective of some of India’s brightest entrepreneurs, leaders and
change-makers coming together to tackle the greatest human development challenge of our times -
poverty. The/Nudge aims to address this by focusing on sustainable poverty alleviation by building a
strong 360-degree life, learning and economic foundation for the poor in residential “Gurukuls”,
along with placement assistance, and lifelong support system called life/guard. The Gurukul’s
Programme in Life Management (PLM) is aimed at at-risk youth of over 18 years of age from
underprivileged background and is designed to take the demand for skilled personnel as an
opportunity to nudge people out of poverty by providing holistic training with life, livelihood and
literacy components.
‘Spreading Smiles’ is an endeavour to reach out to those in need & spread happiness, generosity,

U&i is a volunteer driven organisation.Having started in Bangalore, they are currently in 10 cities
with 1000 volunteers providing education and healthcare to over 850 men, women and children.
U&I has two programs:
U&I Teach: Through the after school program, U&I Teach helps increase the employability of
children and youth from lesser privileged backgrounds with courses in English, tuitions and life skills.
U&I Care: U&I provides medical care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and grooming for the
residents at the Government Home for Special Needs Men and Boys.
The Vatsalya Foundation is a pioneer agency working for the children in need of care and protection since 1982. The Vatsalya Foundation caters to more than 3000 children through its various outreach projects & day care centres in Mumbai, community projects with tribal population in Shahapur, Murbad and Kasara in the state of Maharashtra. The outreach program for children, provides them with basic education, clothing, shelter, health and nutrition. Apart from these, regular interactions and networking with volunteers, they provide training in Capoiera (a Brazilian Martial Art), yoga, dance, painting, sports, theatre, gardening and other creative activities.
World For All Animal Care & Adoptions is a registered Mumbai-based animal welfare group that has
revolutionized the model of stray animal adoptions.
With their primary focus being on stray animal adoptions, rescues and sterilisations, World For All
have successfully conducted over 4700 stray animal adoptions, 4500 sterilisations of both cats and
dogs, and attended to over 10000 rescue calls.
They run three mobile ambulances to attend to sick and injured animals, and are the most active
NGO for cat spay/neuter.
Yuwa works to empower girls by combatting child marriage, illiteracy and human trafficking in Jharkhand. Yuwa has developed a unique and intensive model using team sport and education to help girls take their futures into their own hands.
Young Innovators Foundation is a non-profit organisation where they aim at empowering children to
become independent thinkers, empathetic and passionate individuals who can inspire and be always
inspired. They work with the children from the tribal communities in SGNP and other urban slums in
Mumbai. They endeavour to impart holistic development through education that serves their
children physically, mentally and emotionally to integrate their thinking, feeling and willing.
Youthreach is a national non-profit organization based in New Delhi which seeks to inspire individual
and collective transformation to create positive social change. Youthreach partners with 104 non-
profit organizations across 9 states in India working with target groups of children, youth and
women through interventions such as education, health care, skill training, livelihood support,
sports, water & sanitation, etc.
