An icon of American cinema, Anjelica Huston is an Oscar-winning actress, filmmaker, producer and author. In an illustrious career spanning over five decades, she has appeared in over sixty movies, besides directing and producing a handful.
Huston made her feature film debut with an uncredited role in the spy comedy Casino Royale (1967), which was directed by her father John Huston. However, it was her turn as Madge Gorland in the drama film The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981) that gave the actress the first major break of her career. Five years later, in 1986, Huston won her maiden Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role courtesy of the comedy-drama Prizzi's Honor (1985).
The crime comedy-drama Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989), the neo-noir crime drama The Grifters (1990), the supernatural black comedy The Addams Family (1991) and the crime comedy Manhattan Murder Mystery (1993) were some of Huston's notable acting credits in the years that followed her Oscar win. A regular feature in Wes Anderson films, she has appeared in some of the director's most acclaimed features like The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) and The Darjeeling Limited (2007).
Notable television credits include the epic Western adventure miniseries Lonesome Dove (1989), the historical drama Iron Jawed Angels (2004) and the comedy-drama Transparent (2014-). Of these, her work in Iron Jawed Angels earned the actress a Golden Globes award in 2005. More recently, Huston was seen in the 2018 film Isle of Dogs (voice role) and the neo-noir action thriller John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019).
