Having garnered widespread acclaim for his debut movie itself titled Boys (2003) in the role of a guitarist of a boy band, Bharath is predominantly a Tamil film actor, who has also been associated with a few Malayalam and Telugu movies. In the very next year, he made his Malayalam debut with 4 the People, directed by Jayaraj, which turned out to be a blockbuster hit. One of his most prominent roles was that of a possessive teenager Vishwa in the Tamil film Chellamae, which gained him huge critical acclaim. Another commercially successful film of his career was the Tamil romantic drama Kaadhal, which featured him in the role of a poor mechanic, also got him critical praises. His other successful movies include Pattiyal as a deaf and dumb hitman, a provision store owner's son in Em Magan, and a car driver in Pazhani.
Not only this, Bharath's movie Veyyil was a commercial success and selected for screening at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. After a series of failures, he went on to make his Bollywood debut with Jackpot, in which he played the character of a Goan named Anthony D'Souza from Puducherry. In 2017, he starred in several movies like Kadugu as one of the leads, and the Mahesh Babu starrer Spyder. His other venture in the year includes the Tamil comedy film Kadaisi Bench Karthi, under the direction of Ravi Bhargavan, in which he stars in the lead role opposite Ruhani Sharma and Angana Roy.
