Bhavesh Mandalia started out as an aspiring engineer with an interest in writing. Encouraged by producer Aatish Kapadia he pursued his hobby and began writing as a profession. After writing several plays and screenplays for the TV series Kasamh Se (2006-2009), he wrote the satirical play Kanji Virudh Kanji. The same play was later adapted by him into a film, namely OMG - Oh My God! (2012). The film, which starred Paresh Rawal in the lead role, was critically well-received. Mandalia won the Best Adapted Screenplay award for the same, during the 60th National Film Awards. Other notable credits include Gopala Gopala (2015) and Angrezi Medium (2020).
