Cheyyar Ravi was an Indian TV and film director who was known for his work in the Tamil film industry. Having made his directorial debut with Dharma Seelan, a Tamil drama featuring Prabhu Ganesan, and Kushboo in the lead roles and Napoleon, Geetha and Salim Ghouse in important supporting roles, the director subsequently directed Harichandra (1998). Post-1998, Cheyyar Ravi focused on working the TV industry and he directed series like Gopuram (2000-02), Anandham (2003-09), and Annakodiyum Aindhu Pengalum (2015), before eventually making his comeback to film direction. His 2017 release includes Dharmayudhaya, a Sinhalese-language movie starring Jackson Anthony, Dilhani Ekanayake, and Kusum Renu. The director could not see his maiden Sinhalese venture hit the theaters as he passed away on March 11th 2017, due to cardiac arrest.
