An English film, television and theatre actress Sophie Okonedo made her acting debut in the 1991 drama Young Soul Rebels and also appeared in a small supporting role in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995). Her breakthrough in the film industry came with the 2004 film Hotel Rwanda as Tatiana Rusesabagina for which she also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in the 77th Academy Awards in 2005. Her other notable work includes Tsunami: The Aftermath (2006), The Secret Life of Bees (2008), and Skin (2009) among others. Apart from this, Okonedo also worked in supporting roles in a plethora of television series' Staying Alive (1996), In Defence (2000), and also voiced a character in an animated series Doctor Who: Scream of the Shalka. As of 2019, she is associated with Hellboy.
