David Suchet is an English stage, television and film actor. After starting out in theatre, Suchet made his television and film debut in the late 1960s and rose to prominence in the 1980s. He has appeared in several television shows and films in a career spanning close to five decades, but Suchet his perhaps best known for his iconic portrayal of Agatha Christies fictional detective Hercule Poirot. The series, which ran for 13 seasons and 70 episodes (between 1989 and 2013), earned the actor international acclaim and several award nominations, including a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Actor. Besides Agatha Christies Hercule Poirot, Suchet has also appeared in shows like A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations and Doctor Who. Notable film credits include Executive Decision (1996), A Perfect Murder (1998), Foolproof (2003) and the 2017 action thriller American Assassin.
