Denis Villeneuve is a French-Canadian film director and writer who was born in Gentilly, Quebec, Canada. Villeneuve started his career as a winner of the Radio- Canada's youth film competetion in 1990-91. He has studied films at a french university. His movies Cosmos (1996) and Un 32 aot sur terre (1998) were presented at the Cannes Film Festival. His movies, Maelstrom (2001), Polytechnique (2010) and Incendies (2011) bagged him a Genie Award for Best Director, also all three films won the Best Picture award. His next film, Sicario, is set to be premiered at the 2015, Cannes Film Festival.
