Janhvi Kapoor is the elder daughter of one of India's most popular and successful actresses Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor, a film producer. Hailing from a film family, acting came very naturally to Janhvi, who had expressed her interest in acting at a very young age. After completing her schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, she studied acting at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Manhattan, New York.
Upon completing her course, she returned to India to have bagged the lead role in the Hindi remake of the Marathi blockbuster hit and critically acclaimed movie Sairat, titled Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khatter in 2018.
