Early Life
John Goodman is an American film, TV and stage actor, born in St. Louis, Missouri. He shifted to New York, to become a professional actor. He worked as a bartender and waiter and went through a period of struggle before he joined the broadway production of Loose Ends. He made his debut with Eddie Macon's film Run. He was spotted by a ABC talent scout while he was acting in theatrical productions of Antony and Cleopatra and was cast in a comical role for a new television sitcom Roseanne, which became a major highlight of his career.

On television, he has had regular roles on Amazon Studios' Alpha House and on the first season of HBO's Treme (2010). Goodman is best known for his role as Dan Conner on the television series Roseanne (1988-1997), for which he won a Best Actor Golden Globe Award in 1993. His most recent film, Trumbo (2016) received much critical acclaim. He was also seen in, 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016).
