An Indian actress and a model, Kriti Sanon was born on 27th July 1990 in New Delhi, India. Initially a model, she started her acting career with the Telugu psychological thriller, 1 Nenokkadine (2014). Sabbir Khan's romantic action drama, Heropanti (2014) opposite Tiger Shroff was Kriti's first outing in Bollywood, for which she bagged her first Filmfare award for Best Female Debut. Rohit Shetty's Dilwale (2015) co-starring Varun Dhawan, Shahrukh Khan, and Kajol is her most recent release.
EARLY LIFE/PERSONAL LIFE
Born to a Delhi-based chartered accountant, Rahul Sanon, and a professor at Delhi University, Geeta Sanon, Kriti completed her schooling from Delhi Public School, R K Puram and Bachelors from Jaypee Institute of Technology in Electronics and Communication. She also has a younger sibling, Nupur Sanon. After declining two job offers in Delhi, Kriti moved to Mumbai to pursue her dream of making it big in the film industry. She started her career with modeling, eventually branching out to movies and endorsements.
ACTING CAREER
Kriti Sanon started as a young and a fresh face in the film industry. Her first step in this career was the print shoot for Reliance Trends. She has since then been seen in many popular ads for brands such as Closeup, Titan watches, Parachute and Himalaya Face Wash. She was spotted walking the ramp at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2010 representing famous designers. She has also appeared in the Indian International Jewelry week and in Chennai International Week in 2012.
Later in 2014, Kriti made her acting debut with a Telugu film, 1 Nenokkadine (2014) for which she was very well received by the critics and she made a solid impression with her chemistry with Telugu star, Mahesh Babu. In the same year, she made her Bollywood debut with Heropanti (2014), also starring Tiger Shroff in the lead. Heropanti was a commercial success and Kriti's performance was much appreciated.
In 2015, she appeared in her second Telugu film, Dohchay, as Meera for which her performance well appreciated. In the same year, Kriti was also seen in Dilwale opposite Varun Dhawan, also co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Despite the mixed to negative reviews, the film did reasonably well at the box office.
After a brief hiatus, the actress appeared in two films in 2017: the romantic adventure movie Raabta opposite Sushant Singh Rajput; and the romantic comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi opposite Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao. While Raabta failed to impress both the audience and the critics alike, Bareilly Ki Barfi was both a critical and commercial success which won big at the Filmfare and IIFA Awards that year.
The romantic comedy Luka Chuppi (2019), Arjun Patiala (2019), the comedy Housefull 4 (2019) and the historical period drama Panipat (2019) are among Kriti's other significant projects in recent times.
