Matt Dillon is an American actor and director who began his acting career in 1979 with the movie Over the Edge. Soon after he made his debut, he went on to become a teenage idol and appeared in movies such as Mr. Bodyguard (1980), Rumble Fish (1983), and The Flamingo Kid (1984). In 1991 he received critical appreciation from the renowned film critic Roger Ebert, who referred Dillion to be one of the best actors of his age group. His performance in the movie Crash (2004) wherein he essayed the role of Officer John Ryan earned him unanimous critical acclaim and he received multiple award nominations including the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor. Some of his other movie credits include Nothing But the Truth (2008), Pawn Shop Chronicles (2013), and Bad Country released in 2014. In the same year, he starred as Ethan Burke on the science fiction TV series Wayward Pines. In 2017, he starred in the movie Going in Style directed by Zach Braff.
