Best known for playing the role of Sidney Prescott in the horror film series, Scream and LeAnn Harvey in the Netflix drama House of Cards, Neve Campbell is a Canadian TV and film actress. Campbell who is of Scottish, Dutch and Canadian descent wanted to do ballet and she enrolled at the Erinvale School of Dance before eventually starting her acting career as a theatre artist. Her maiden appearance on the stage was with The Nutcracker.
At the age of 15, Campbell started acting in theatre professionally and she starred in plays like The Phantom of the Opera at the Canon Theatre in Toronto. Enlisted in ''50 Most Beautiful People'' list twice, Campbell was also ranked three in Empire's ''100 Sexiest Movie Stars'' in 1998. After starting her career as theatre artist, Campbell moved to acting in feature films and made her debut on the silver screen with The Dark (1993) where she played a small role.
Post her debut film, Campbell struggled to get much work and she starred in mostly small and supporting roles until she got her major breakthrough in 1996 when she starred in the first film of the Scream series. Her role as Sidney Prescott in the American Slasher film was much appreciated by both the audience and the critics and she went to play the recurring role in three more films in the scream franchise.
Her brilliant performance in the Scream opened the doors for her to get several new projects and post-1996 she starred in more than 20 films. Some of her popular film credits include Panic (2000), Relative Strangers (2006), Agent Crush (2008), Watler (2015) and Skyscraper (2018), an American action film, which is written, directed and co-produced by Rawson Marshall Thurber.
Apart from films, Neve Campbell has also worked extensively in the TV series industry. She started her career on the small screen in 1991 with My Secret Identity where she starred in an uncredited role. The following year she got her first big breakthrough on the small screen with The Kinds in the Hall, later, over the years, she has starred in more than 15 series'. Some of her notable appearances on the TV screen includes Kung Fu: The Legend Contiues (1994), Saturday Night Live (1997), Titanic: Blood and Steel (2012), Grey's Anatomy (2012), Mad Men (2014), Welcome to Sweden (2015), and House of Cards (2016-17).
