Om Raut is an Indian writer, director, actor and producer who made his debut as a child actor in 1993 with the movie Karamati Coat which received a laudable mention at the 20th International Children Film Festival, Frankfurt, in 1994. Before venturing into filmmaking, Raut worked with MTV Network New York. After his successful stint with the company, he returned to India and served as the Vice President of Creative Business at Valuable Group the promoter of UFO movies.
In 2010, he produced the movie City of Gold, which was released as Lalbaug Paral in the Marathi language. The movie directed by Mahesh Manjrekar went on to receive critical acclaim. The following year he produced the horror movie Haunted - 3D starring Twinkle Bajpai, Mahaakshay Chakraborty, Arif Zakaria, and Achint Kaur. It was in 2015, that he made his writing and directing debut with the movie Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush, a biopic on the Indian freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak. The movie received positive reviews and critical acclaim with the Times of India giving it 4 stars stating: ''Very rarely does a Marathi film get a standing ovation from the audience and Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush is one of them''. The movie was produced under the banner of Neena Raut Entertainment - a production company established by Om in 2012. In 2017, Om appeared in the movie Gopya directed by Raj Paithankar. His 2020 release include Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, the movie stars Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan in prominent roles.
