Roshan Pilapitiya is one of the few Sri Lankan actors who has not only worked in Sinhala language films, but has broadened his verticals by starring in French and English movies. He was the recipient of the Most Popular Actor Award at Sumathi Tele Awards consecutively in 2003 and 2004. The English movie Disco Girl (1990) marked his movie debut, followed by a string of Sinhala movies like Mandakini, Sudu Sewaneli, Rajjumala, Eka Malaka Pethi, Mahindagamanaya, and Natannethuwa Dinna, and also the French movie Ross & Margurette (1995). The first teledrama he featured in was Golu Hadawatha (1988) by popular director Lester James Peries, followed by successful teledramas such as Ek Murgaanganaawiyak and Sihina Aran Enna. He is also a well-established singer who has recorded the songs Sahasak Sithuwili, Atheethayata Yana Pare, Hamuwee Wenwi Giyath, Hitha Parala and Dakinna Awe.
