Early Life:
Steve Carell is an American actor, comedian, director, producer and writer. After graduating from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, he moved to Chicago, where he taught an improvisational comedy class and performed with The Second City troupe, alongside Stephen Colbert. He made his film debut with the film, Curly Sue (1991).
Career Highlights:
Steve Carell appeared in the films, Tomorrow Night (1998) and Bruce Almighty (2003), but his major film role was in the hit comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004). Soon after, he made small-time appearances in Sleepover (2004), Melinda and Melinda (2005) and Bewitched (2005). Carell was then cast as the lead role in the box-office hit, The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), which he also co-wrote. He starred in the comedy-drama, Little Miss Sunshine (2006) and also voiced the character of Hammy in the animated comedy films, Over the Hedge (2006) and Hammy's Boomerang Adventure (2006). Steve Carell bagged the lead role in the comedy film, Evan Almighty (2007), a sequel to Bruce Almighty and was later seen in the films, Knocked Up (2007), Dan in Real Life (2007), Stories USA (2007), Horton Hears a Who! (2008) and Get Smart (2008). Some of his notable works include Date Night (2010), Despicable Me (2010), Dinner for Schmucks (2010), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), Despicable Me 2 (2013) and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013). He was last seen in Foxcatcher (2014) and The Good dinosaur (2015). His latest film The Big Short released in January 2016, and was nominated for 5 Academy Awards.
